Claire Danvers's college town may be run by vampires but a truce between the living and the dead made things relatively safe. For a while. Now people are turning up dead, a psycho is stalking her, and an ancient bloodsucker has proposed private mentoring. To what end, Claire will find out. I enjoyed this book in the Morganville Vampire series. It focuses on Claire, Shane, Michael and Eve who all live together in Glass House. Someone is killing girls and leaving them at the house and they try to figure out who is doing this. Claire is ordered to help a vampire try to find a cure for all vampires who will eventually die from an unknown cause. She is also falling in love with Shane who is older and they try to keep their relationship going with no sex until she is old enough. To make matters worse her parents are moving to Morganville and don't know anything about vampires. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

This was badly written and lacked the charm of the first two novels in the series. This has characteristics that give "teen lit" a bad name. I do NOT need to know the details of the girls' slutty party wear again, or the precise state of our heroine's just-a-bit-too-young-for-sex affair with her just-too-old boyfriend.
OTOH, I couldn't put it down :-)
I was ready to quit when our heroine, who I remember is a genius star student, seemed about to learn several years of advance science courses over a weekend, but it turned out I was wrong, the author wasn't going to be THAT unrealistic.
Hooray to the author for managing a third cliffhanger ending in a row --how will they get out of THIS?!!! -- although I really think this series may be taking a stupid turn and they won't get out of it without the whole thing getting too stupid to enjoy anymore.

wowww. i loved this book. so far the best. i just cannot expect anything more because i hav run out of imaginations as to what will happen in the next book. wat with all the new characters coming in aswell. i thought Amelie was the oldest. if so then wat about the bishop, her father? n wer does that make claire stand?? will claire's parents survive morganville without knowing about the vampires? moreover will they die? noooooo!!!! n wat about ol the vampires. i want them to die but i dont want sam, michael n amelis to die. but the rest can go to hell. especially Oliver. cant wait to get the answers from the next read in the series

Couldn't put it down, finished it within a day and then was upset with myself knowing I had a year to wait for the next one to come out. Rachel Caine doesn't disappoint.

This review is from: Midnight Alley (Morganville Vampires, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
This third book in the Morganville Vampires series begins where the second left off. Claire Danvers had signed a contract pledging herself to Amelie in return for the protection of those she cares for. Amelie is the town's Founder. She is the oldest, scariest vampire of all. Claire now wears a Patron bracelet.

Claire still resides in Glass House with Eve, Michael, and Shane. Michael and Shane are still buds, but there is some major friction between them now. Then there is Claire's archenemy, Monica Morell. Claire detects the strange scent of oddity, of something rotten, when Monica starts showing up and begins acting as though she wants to become one of Claire's closest friends.

Amelie demands Claire become an apprentice to an ancient vampire and begins some private lessons in his secluded home. Claire will soon discover why.
