Cilla, a former child star who has found more satisfying work as a restorer of old houses, has come to her grandmother's Shenandoah Valley farmhouse, tools at her side, to rescue it from ruin. In the attic, she finds a cache of unsigned letters suggesting that her grandmother was pregnant when she died and that the father was a local married man. When Cilla becomes the target of a series of intimidating acts and a frightening, violent assault, her neighbor, graphic novelist Ford Sawyer, steps in to help her sort out who is targeting her and why.

If you aren't already a fan of Nora Roberts, this is one of the novels which shows how she can flex her writing muscles. She includes an insight into the life of a Hollywood starlet no longer seeking fame, the consequences of that fame, and the value of putting roots down. Especially when you have an adorable next door neighbor, who has a very fun dog. And an amazing sense of art, as well as people.

BORING the absolute worst Nora Roberts book I have ever read. Hundreds of pages about Cilla's home renovations & a plot that could have been wrapped up in 200 pages instead of 450.
