this film is extremley real from beginning to end. nothing seems exaggerated or made up. there is no Hollywood style glorified violence. it shows war for what it is, horrific.

This is a 2005 Russian Afgan-war docudrama directed by Fedor Bondarchuk, loosely based on a real-life battle that took place at Elevation 3234 in early 1988, during the last large-scale Soviet military operation called "Magistral."
Reminiscent of "Apocalypse Now," "Full Metal Jacket" and "The Big Red One," this film looks like the first of the post-Soviet great war movies.

Фильм по мотивам событий в афганской войне. О солдатах, которые не были плакатными героями, но проявили героизм и честно выполнили долг.
