In this electrifying and fast-paced tale of suspense from the bestselling author about a Miami criminal defense lawyer who takes on his first death-row client - a case as twisty as it is shocking. Sashi Burgette vanished three years ago. An article of Sashi's clothing was found in ex-con Dylan Kyle' truck, and a police videotape of his drunken explanation under interrogation sealed his fate at trial. Just days from Kyle's execution, Sashi's mother delivers shocking news: "Sashi called me." A man of principle who believes in justice, Jack jumps into the investigation. But the deeper he digs the more he discovers that nothing is what it appears to be. Not the victim. Not her alleged killer and definitely not Sashi's parents. As their gut-wrenching and hopelessly conflicting version of events unfolds in a Miami courtroom, it becomes clear there is something even more difficult to find than a long-missing girl - the truth.

This is the second book I've read by James Grippando and I've enjoyed both of them. I like the Jack Swyteck character and will look for more books with him in them. Great read!

Another great novel by Grippando. Swyteck's search for the truth of Sashi's death or disappearance leads him to Russian mobsters and into the varying 'truths' from her adopted Mother, Father and sister. The suspense heightens until the conclusion - leading to the ultimate discovery of what really occurred on that fateful day when Sashi went missing. Would definitely recommend this terrific book.

Enjoyed this new chapter in the Jack Swyteck story. This was a good read that kept your interest. Interesting topic touching on the problems that have developed in children that have been adopted from foreign war torn countries. It had been in the news before but hearing about the problems that this family had with their adopted daughter was heartbreaking. Interesting that while Jack is searching for the answer to her disappearance he is waiting for the birth of his own daughter - with possible impending problems of his own. Now waiting for book 13 to follow through on that.

I have read a few James Grippando books, but this is my first Jack Swyteck novel. Even though this is book 12 in the series, this book works as a stand alone. I did not feel like I was missing any background info. The missing troubled teen is so hateful, I didn't really care if she was dead or alive. The mystery surrounding her disappearance and who was responsible is what kept me interested. Written in a fast paced, engaging style that keeps the pages turning.
