I would not call this a 'shocking' story. This boy did not suffer thanks to the Home where his Mother found refuge. The same would apply to women world-wide in religious, cultural and male-dominated societies. It was an easy-going read without any angst to speak of.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, very interesting on lives in Ireland in the 1960s & stigma of having a child out of wedlock and how those lives are lived
