Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner. An NPR Best Book of 2013

The Lunar Chronicles only get even better in the second installment, Scarlet. Super satisfied by how the story plays out and how good it is. The whole series is a must read and a win for Marissa Meyer

Fast-paced and addictive but quite implausible.

I really enjoyed Cinder, but Scarlet even more so, as the story continues and suspense builds up. I love the mashup of fantasy/fairy tale and science fiction. I appreciate that the girls are smart and capable, and the male characters are not dupes. Well, the prince, at any rate...

Fans of Alison Goodman (Eon, Eona), Shannon Hale (Books of Bayern), Catherine Fischer (Incarceron), Lindsay Buroker (Emperor's Edge) and Sarah Maas (Throne of Glass) may particularly enjoy The Lunar Chronicles.

After reading Cinder, I had to read this book. I loved the whole concept of switching between character perspectives but I liked Scarlet a little more than Cinder. You should totally read this book after Cinder and you won't be disappointed.

This book does a fantastic job flipping between prospectives and is a fantastic sequel to cinder. If you loved the first book you will love this. The plot twists are supprizing but don’t come out of nowhere. It’s not as action packed as the first but does a great job setting up plot points coming in the next books. Scarlet is a fantastic character that stands on her own and is different than Cinder but not better or worse. It’s my least favourite of the series as an individual book, but when reading them in succession it fits in perfectly and does everything it should. Do yourself a favour and read this book

I am really enjoying this series. In this book we get to meet new characters, Scarlet and Wolf, and see their story, which slowly unravels to be a part of something much bigger. It all comes together, and we still get to see what is happening with Cinder and Kai. I love the way the plot slowly brings the two girls together while we learn more about Cinder's background and Levana's craziness.
Onto the next book!

I loved this novel! Scarlet is much more action-packed than Cinder, but it works for the characters. Oh boy, the characters. We are introduced to several new main characters in Scarlet. Of the eponymous Scarlet Benoit, a gun-toting girl on a quest to find her grandmother, but also Wolf, a street fighter and Scarlet's love interest, and Carswell Thorne, a very charming criminal that Cinder meets in prison. The story is based on the Little Red Riding Hood tale but still manages to keep you guessing to the end.
