This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. It captures life in general and the Canadian experience in a heartwarming way. The story is about a couple, he is Metis and she is Mennonite refugee from Leninist Russia. and their large extended family: brothers, sisters, and 10 children. The characters are superbly drawn and you have Canadian history, marital relationships, everyday life from the point of view of the various children all interwoven together. A captivating delight that would make a great movie.
